Elena Gavrilovna Sukhareva (pictured on the left), a resident of the Chistoozerny District of the Novosibirsk Region, served on a military hospital train throughout the war. At the age of 18, she passed her first baptism of fire near the city of Velikiye Luki. An ambulance train was heading towards the front when German bombers swooped down. The first bombing will be remembered for her entire life. Elena Gavrilovna met Victory in Germany, has awards: the Order of the Patriotic War of the second degree, the medal "For Victory over Germany", the Zhukov medal.
