In 1942, nineteen-year-old Mikhail Khokhlunov was drafted into the army. After graduating from the communications school in the Kuibyshev division, he was transferred to Ulyanovsk, where he continued his studies at the tank school. He completed his combat path as a signalman and tanker. Awarded the Medal for Military Merit for the Battle of Yassy. In the war, there was nothing more precious than sending a photo to your family and friends. The fellow soldiers, knowing that Mikhail could take pictures, helped to get paper, reagents, cameras.
