The photo was taken in the city of Bryansk (now the regional centre of the Bryansk region). Anna Kochetkova was shot by the Nazis on 25 October 1941 in the village of Khatsun, Karachevsky district, Orel region (now Bryansk). Her father, Kochetkov Mikhail Yakovlevich, was appointed to Khatsun as Chief Forester in early summer 1941. Before that the family lived in Bryansk. Together with Anya, her parents, all villagers and refugees from Bryansk were shot that day.
