Junior Lieutenant Nikolay Gavrylovich Liskonozhenko.
On 2 November 1941, N.G. Liskonozhenko showed exceptional courage and heroism in battle. During the battle he ran out of supplies, pointed his fighter at an enemy U-88 bomber and cut off his tail fin with his propeller. Following this, Liskonozhenko was attacked by three enemy fighters, but even being seriously wounded, he did not get lost and, acting as a battering ram, destroyed another enemy aircraft. Bleeding out and having serious damage to his aircraft, Liskonozhenko was able to land safely. However, he died on the same day from his wounds in battle. On 27 December 1941, he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
