Before the Great Patriotic War, he worked as an accountant at the "Morozovka" farm. On August 19, 1941 he was mobilized in the ranks of the R.K.V.M.F. On August 22, 1941 he was sent to the city of Leningrad from the Savyolovsky station by rail through Kosova mountain Tver region. On August 29, 1941 he arrived in the city of Leningrad. The barracks were on "Vasilyevsky Island". But they slept there only during the day. At night they were in dugouts and in the guard. Upon arrival in Leningrad, he was given a marine uniform. A month later it was replaced with a protective uniform, just like the Red Army soldier’s. He was registered in the 142nd Separate Local Rifle Company of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. The company was listed as a reserve, as it was planned to quickly build a second echelon army. The company was guarding military facilities. Georgy Petrovich was either in charge of schedule control of guards or a senior guard. By November 7, 1941 he was photographed and the photo was hung on the board of honor for his vigilance, discipline, accuracy and modesty. On November 24, 1941 he got to the front. On November 28-29, 1941, the unit went on the offensive to break through the ring of Leningrad's encirclement to connect the Northern road line under T. On November 29, 1941 at 6 a.m. he was wounded in his right leg above his knee. It was an exit gunshot wound. He crawled for 7 hours from the front line through bogs. Lost a lot of blood. He was lying in a hospital in the city of Leningrad on the Zhoressa embankment. In the hospital there were mostly Leningrad citizens. The food supplies were very bad, food was scarce. The wound healed, but the general condition was not very good, anemia and weakened body. But he was waiting for the discharge on 25.01-01.02.1942. The last letter was dated January 18, 1942. There were no more letters and news. Already after the war, in 1945, a letter came from Georgy Petrovich. Everyone was happy – he was alive. But it turned out that this letter got lost during the war and was dated 1941. In 1943, 1945, 1947 and many more times the wife addressed with statements, with the request to learn the fate of her husband. But the answer was the same - he went missing in April 1942. He left the hospital and no one else saw him. In our family May 9 is not only the Day of Great Victory, but also the day of great sorrow and grief. We are grandchildren and great-grandchildren know much about our grandfather and great grandfather. As long as we remember, we live. Although he did not accomplish a great feat. The feat is that he participated in this war protecting his family, his Homeland.
