Member of the CPSU (b) since 1925. From the age of six, he worked on the farm of his father, a poor peasant. From 1915-in military service, fought on the South-Western front. In July 1917, he deserted from the army and arrived in his native village. In 1918, he was drafted into the Red Army, was a red army rifle regiment in Saratov, participated in the battles against Denikin's army.
