Subdivision: 382nd Novgorod Infantry Division. _x000D_ My great-uncle, Nikolai Pavlovich Sladkov (8.10.1926 - 08.29.1994), a native of Lower Alopovo, Peremyshl District, Kaluga Region, was called up to the front in 1944 from the 9th grade. He studied as a machine gunner in Kaluga, got to fight near Leningrad as part of the 382nd Novgorod Infantry Division. In the battles near Vyborg, when crossing the Vusksi River, he was wounded and contused by a mine fragment, ended up in hospital 1014 in Leningrad, where he was from 17.07.1944 to 16.09.1944._x000D_ After recovery he was sent on 09/21/1944 to PRB 36 WHSD. He was awarded the medal “For Military Merit”. _x000D_ “Comrade N.P. Sladkov participated in battles against the Nazi invaders on the Leningrad Front as part of the 382nd Novgorod Infantry Division. In 1944 he showed stamina and courage. At the front he participated in battles as a Commander of a Rifle squad and a light machine gunner. On July 17, 1944, being wounded and shell-shocked, Comrade Sladkov did not leave the battlefield, but remained to fight steadfastly in the ranks of the advancing troops, combat and political training, perfectly mastered his specialty. He copes with his duties perfectly. Morally stable, disciplined. He is devoted to the parties of Lenin, Stalin and the Socialist Motherland. _x000D_ Conclusion: He was distinguished with the state award "For Courage" on July 7, 1947. He had reached Berlin. Then he served in Poland at the Headquarters as a cartographer for 5 years. He entered the Construction institute in Moscow. He worked as a civil engineer in Moscow. He is buried at the Shcherbinskoye cemetery.
