Since 1941, he participated in the fighting of the Second world war on the Western and 1st Belorussian Fronts, 1266th Rifle Regiment, 385th Division, 10 Army, 65 Army. He began his military service in December 1941 with the defense of Moscow. He was shell-shocked on 10.01.1942._x000D_ "Comrade Sabaev has been in the regiment since he was formed as the Political Officer of the company. In the battles for the villadge of Krutaya comrade Sabaev with his company went along with the riflemen to the rear of the enemy, his personal example inspired the feat of fighters, personally destroyed a machine-gun point with its crew from a mortar and suppressed two mortar points. Soldiers of the company, which was led by comrade Sabaev, during the fighting, up to 100 Germans were destroyed."_x000D_ "Comrade Sabaev during the period of being in the reserve battery of officers of the army Command as a platoon commander by hard work has achieved significant success in training platoon and battery commanders to provide artillery units of the army. For the training and education of reserve officers, comrade Sabaev fully deserves the Government award of the Order of the Red Star."_x000D_ "First Lieutenant G.
