In the period of preparation for the breakthrough of a strongly fortified enemy line in the area of Bobruisk, comrade Sabaev, along with the training of officers, had a number of assignments for the staffing and placement of officers, with which he coped well. For skillful and correct work on record keeping and manning artillery units with officers, for personal courage and bravery shown in performing urgent tasks of the command comrade Sabaev deserved the government award of the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree."

Rank: Red Army Soldier_x000D_ Branch of Service: Land Forces, Air Force (except Naval Aviation), Coast Guard, NKVD troops, Border Guards_x000D_ Just a year ago, on the website of Channel 1, my family and I were surprised to find a story about one of our family members, who is well remembered only by my father, since this is his grandfather. It is impossible to describe the feelings we experienced while reading these lines. It was both delight at the meeting and tears at the loss of a loved one! And I, who did not know my great-grandfather, felt love, as if I had known him for many years..._x000D_ Here is the story:_x000D_ "From the words of my father, I want to share my memories of my grandfather Tolstykh Andrey, born in 1911. He lived in the city of Barabinsk of the Novosibirsk Region (previously West-Siberian Region). He was married to Tolstykh (Kovyrshina) Matryona. They had three children. When the war started, the children were Zoya-9 years old, Valya-7 years old, Gena-4 years old._x000D_ In 1941, Andrey went through army training camps in Novosibirsk, from where he was sent to defend the Fatherland. As part of the Siberian division, he fought at Stalingrad. In September 1942, a death notice came, which said that he had fought heroically and was buried in a mass grave in the village of Nizhny Chir._x000D_ His widow raised three children alone: the Singer sewing machine helped out, and she used it to sew simple dresses and quilted jackets. She received little from the state, but raised her children and taught them. She died early._x000D_ Grandfather in his years dreamed of buying a Bicycle, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (and he has 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren) exceeded all his wishes. My father is a mining engineer who worked as a Director of a mine and Association for many years._x000D_ My grandfather's daughters worked honestly in the food industry and among his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were engineers, economists, and a General. No wonder grandfather protected us - life goes on."_x000D_ After reading this story, a dream was born in my soul to find the grave of my great-grandfather and worship him with my daughter. Trying to find at least a small information, I met a wonderful man Navodkin Anatoliy. He leads the search team "Komsomolets", which conducts searches and organizes the burial of our children lying under the ground of hot snow. Remember the movie? It was he who in 2008 organized the burial of my grandfather, Andrey Tolstykh, about whom we knew very little until recently._x000D_ Now, many years later, I finally visited his grave and the very place where he was shot by the Germans on December 23, 1942.Thank you, dear person, for my life and the lives of my loved ones! We will always remember your incredible feat!

History:_x000D_ Zinaida Mikheeva was born on October 29, 1924 in the village of Batalovshchina, Ostashkovsky District, Tver Region._x000D_ Zinaida worked for the Red Army in Headquarters of the 53rd Army as a civilian employee from August 1942 to May 28, 1945._x000D_ From the memoirs of Zinaida Mikheeva:_x000D_ "In the summer of 1942, the headquarters of the 53rd Army was located a kilometer from our village of Batalovshchina. I was 18 years old, and I was offered to serve in the 463rd Separate Cable and Pole Company as a Red Army telephone operator. 2 months later, a Major from the army's economic Department offered me a job as a waitress in the soldiers' canteen. I agreed. Then I was transferred to the officers' mess. And then I was sent as a waitress to the Commander of the 53rd Army, Lieutenant General I. Managarov._x000D_ Ivan Managarov was a kind, cheerful, cultured and polite man. He loved cheesecakes, cottage cheese, fish, and very much respected Ukrainian borscht. Every day after Breakfast, he went to the front line with his guards. A former cavalryman, when the road was impassable, he changed his "Willis" for a horse. He also liked to play the accordion, and played masterly._x000D_ Then there was a march to Belgorod. The 53rd Army fought near Belgorod and Kharkov. In the autumn of 1943, in Ukraine, a shell hit the staff dugout. Two senior officers were killed, and the Commander and another General were wounded. General Managarov spent two months in the hospital, and next to him was his staff, including me._x000D_ Poltava, Kremenchuk, Kirovohrad... Our army participated in the Korsun-Shevchenko operation. I remember the impassable mud, which could only be overcome on a horseback. Iassy-Kishinev operation, entry into Bucharest._x000D_ Then there was Hungary, the liberation of Budapest._x000D_ I seemed to be on the sidelines of the fighting, but I got into difficult situations several times. Once, during the bombing of the army headquarters, a shrapnel mortally wounded an orderly of the commander, who was lying some centimeters away from me. Another time, during the offensive in Ukraine, when there was no solid front line, the General's entourage, including myself, came across a strong enemy group. Barricaded in a barnyard, we spent several hours shooting at the Germans around us. We were already running out of ammunition when units of our army came to our rescue._x000D_ Service at the army headquarters gave me the opportunity to see many prominent generals. I met I. Konev several times, fed him lunch and talked to Marshal S. Timoshenko, bandaged the wounded leg of General R. Malinovsky..._x000D_ I ended the War with the 53rd Army in Czechoslovakia. In the city of Slavkov, I. Managarov was already a Colonel General, Hero of the Soviet Union, had the Orders of Lenin, Suvorov, Kutuzov, Bogdan Khmelnitsky, Red Banner, Red Star._x000D_ Our Army was to be transferred to the Far East. I told the commander that I would like to go home._x000D_ "Look, you know best," he said._x000D_ They corrected my documents and gave me an accompanying soldier. We got to Moscow, and then to our native Ostashkovsky District."_x000D_ Zinaida Mikheeva died on April 12, 2006. She was buried in Ostashkov.

Rank: Lieutenant._x000D_ Branch of service: Army, Air Force (except Marine Aviation), Coast Guard, NKVD troops, Border Guards._x000D_ Duty station: 10th Reserve Rifle Division._x000D_ To my shame, I do not know much about my grandfather's martial path, so I will use his personal memories._x000D_ “On November 7, 1941, I was sent to the area of Nevskaya Dubrovka to replenish the reconnaissance company. This place was called "Piglet": a small area was strategically important for us and the Germans. We tried to connect with the Volkhov Front from this bridgehead, and the Fritzes wanted to capture it in order to tie the knot of the blockade of Leningrad even more tightly. Despite the fact that we were under fire of heavy guns, mortars, and air bombs, our soldiers still held on._x000D_ From here, we, scouts, went to the enemy's rear, got valuable information about the location of firing points, and took weapons. I was wounded three times on Nevskaya Dubrovka. One of the wounds was serious. February of the 42nd year came-cold, snowy. The beginning of the second year of the war in Leningrad was marked by two opposite facts. The positive thing is that our military units were sufficiently armed. Submachine guns, self-loading rifles, large-caliber guns and mortars appeared, but the situation with food had become much worse. There were times when we did not get a crust of bread or a cracker for two or three days. I was starving._x000D_ Food situation for the city's civilian population was even worse. Each resident received no more than 200 grams of surrogate bread. Thousands of people died of hunger and cold every day: in cold rooms, on snow-covered sidewalks, near the ice-holes of the Neva River. I have seen all this, and even now, this sad, terrible picture often rises before my eyes._x000D_ At the beginning of March 1942, I was discharged from the hospital and sent to the military-political school on Vasilievskiy Island. Here I had to see the horrors of war even more. With the onset of warm weather the removal of the corpses in the city began. Corpses were loaded onto trucks like firewood._x000D_ It was only in the second half of 1943 that the situation on the front line of defense and in the city changed for the better. There were more weapons and food stuff. This made it possible not only to defend, but also to attack. We took the towns of Tikhvin, Pushkin, and Pulkovo height. Finally, Leningrad was completely liberated from the Nazi blockade at the end of January 1944. It was a joy for all the people of Leningrad, but a joy with tears in their eyes.

Rank: Specialist._x000D_ Duty station: 167th Rifle Division (1st formation)._x000D_ My dad, Muhamediyar Sitdikov, was a participant of the Great Patriotic W of 1941-1945. He was born in the Kusinskiy District, the village of Petrushkino on July 6, 1913. My parents got married and lived in Sverdlovsk before the war. Then the war broke out. Dad, Mukhamediyar Sitdikov, volunteered for the front at the age of 28, with the rank of Specialist. Participated in combat operations on the territory of the Soviet Union. After the liberation of the USSR from Nazi troops, he fought for the liberation of European countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Poland. During the fighting, surrounded by German troops, he was driven along with his comrades into a swamp, where they stood in icy water. Soldiers were fighting defensive battles near Budapest, and my dad and a group of soldiers were captured. When they were liberated by the Soviet troops, they again went to liberate the territories from the fascist troops. They went forward for the Victory, knowing that they were expected home. During the bombing, he received a shrapnel wound to his heart. The removal of the fragment during the surgery was life threatening, so he passed with this fragment near the heart for the rest of his life. For an excellent service, for their bravery and courage, for exemplary performance of command assignments at the front, fighting with the German invaders and displaying valor and courage, he was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree, many medals and decorations, including Order of the Red Star. After the war, my father took my mother from the village, came to Kusa, built a house on the bank of the river AI and raised us, five children. After the war, he started his career in Kusa as a fireman in a Fire Department. Then he worked for a machine-building plant in a foundry. Therefore, he worked until the end of his days. As a result, he was paralyzed, and, after 8 months, he passed away with a shard in his heart on May 18, 1962. Daughter – Lena Sitdikova.

And made the inscription on the wall of the defeated Reichstag on behalf of his family: "The end of fascism. Mikheevs in Berlin. Long live Victory!"_x000D_ The battle tradition of the seniors was continued by a tank crew consisting of the younger Mikheevs. Michael, Simon and Peter fought bravely in the battles with the Japanese militarists. Their tank, which was commanded by my father Mikhail Mikheev, went over eight hundred kilometers almost all of Manchuria on the road, through mountain passes, smashing the mountain formations of the Kwantung army. Over the years of the seven-year plan, the team has achieved a 2-fold increase in sinking and a 1.2-fold reduction in the cost of a meter of sinking._x000D_ In 1965, his team showed the highest drilling speed in the Ural-Volga region — 13,037 meters per machine per month._x000D_ In accordance with the decision of the state Committee of the oil industry under the state plan of the USSR, in order to comprehensively study the deep structure of the earth's crust in the Volga-Ural oil and gas region and obtain data on the material composition and structure of the crystalline basement rocks, drilling of ultra-deep well #2000 was started at the Tuymazinskoye field. The drilling of this well was conducted by Dmitry Mikhailov's team, which by March 15, 1966 had drilled to a depth of 3,984 meters — the first time crystal rocks were opened with a capacity of more than 2,100 meters._x000D_ The team's best practices were widely disseminated and implemented by the trust's other drilling teams. The trust completed the seven-year plan for rock penetration ahead of schedule by October 25, and the drilling office #1, where its team worked, by July 17, 1965._x000D_ Dmitry Mikhailov was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 23, 1966 for outstanding achievements in fulfilling the tasks of the seven-year plan for oil production and achieving high technical and economic indicators._x000D_ In 1966, he was appointed Director of the drilling office #5 of the Tuymazaburneft Ttrust. In 1970-1974 - Chief of the Yanaulskiy District drilling Department, in 1976-1983 — Deputy Cheif of the Ufa Drilling Department of the Bashneft Production Association._x000D_ In 1966-1971, he was a candidate member of the CPSU Central Committee. He was a Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of the sixth convocation (1963-1967)._x000D_ In 1983, Dmitry Mikhailov retired. Personal pensioner of the USSR and the Russian Federation, on a well-deserved rest, continued to engage in public work._x000D_ He died on December 5, 2018, at the age of 99. He was buried in the city of Ufa.

Rank: Lieutenant Colonel_x000D_ Branch of Service: Military Veterinary Staff_x000D_ My great-grandfather Alexander Savchenkov was born on October 20, 1902 in a poor peasant family. At birth, he was given the name Artemiy, which his great-grandfather changed to Alexander in 1932. After graduating from Divasovskaya 4-year school, my grandfather realized that he did not want to wear bast shoes all his life and decided to master shoemaking. At first, the self-taught shoemaker's shoes were "laughter and sin". My grandfather learned the tricks of shoemaking in a Shoemaking workshop in the 69th Army._x000D_ In 1929, he passed the external exams for 9 classes and entered the Military Veterinary Paramedic School, then graduated from the Military Veterinary Faculty at the Moscow Veterinary Institute. He was sent to Khabarovsk as a veterinarian, and then as the Chief of the Medical Department of the Khabarovsk infirmary._x000D_ The war caught our great-grandfather in the Far East, in Blagoveshchensk, where he served on the border as the chief of the veterinary infirmary. Two weeks before the beginning of the war, great-grandfather received an urgent assignment in Bialystok (order of 07.06.1941 on the appointment of the Chief of the Bialystok Garrison Veterinary Infirmary), on the Polish border, where the invasion of Nazi troops began...where no one survived. By the will of fate, the family was delayed - it was necessary to collect things, sell the farm, because they were leaving forever. The whole family was "sitting on their suitcases" and was going to stop in Smolensk on the way to visit all their relatives. I'm afraid to think what would have happened if my great-grandfather and his family had reached Bialystok earlier than June 22._x000D_ To get a new appointment, great-grandfather and his family went to Moscow. The road was very difficult: the train constantly had to let go trains with troops going to the front. Somewhere in the Urals, people began to talk about the horrors that occur at the front._x000D_ In Moscow, my great-grandfather was assigned to Tula as the Chief of the Military Veterinary Infirmary. This was the beginning of the military path, and then there was the city of Skopin-Marshansk, Shilovo - again Tula-Rzhev-Bryansk-Poland-Narva (Estonia) - Berlin. He participated in the battles of the Western, Bryansk and 1st Belorussian Fronts._x000D_ Great-grandfather was born in the village and since childhood was engaged with horses, so he put his heart and soul into his work. He told our grandmother Zina (his daughter) that horses are very smart animals. When the fighting started, one could hear the roar of explosions, the horses were very nervous, even crying. I had to calm everyone down. There were few vehicles, so horses were the main means of transport in those years. They were the ones who transported heavy weapons and people._x000D_ Without a horse, you can't feed a soldier — after all that were the horses that delivered food carts and field kitchens to the positions. Every a rifle regiment was supposed to have three hundred and fifty horses. And how many wounded men owe their lives to these humble war workers! After all, most of the infirmaries and medical units were also "horse-drawn". It often happened that the infantry went to the positions not on trucks, but on horse carts. Well, the movement of partisan detachments without this type of transport is impossible to imagine._x000D_ Our great-grandfather Sasha was awarded the Order of the Red Star for saving the cavalry in the battles of the Bug and Vistula._x000D_ And the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd degree great-grandfather received for preparing the cavalry for the capture of Berlin!_x000D_ After the war, my great-grandfather lived with his family for some time in Narva (Estonia), and then received a transfer to the Moscow Region and retired. Unfortunately, he lived only 13 years after the war. My great-grandmother Asya, his wife, lived until the age of 96 (until 1998) and told us everything in detail._x000D_ Our family honors the memory of those who participated in the great Patriotic War. It is dear to our hearts! We remember our HEROES!!!

History:_x000D_ Alexander Matrosov (February 5, 1924 – February 27, 1943) — Hhero of the Soviet Union (19 June 1943), soldier, machine-gunner of the 2nd Rifle Battalion of the 91st Separate Siberian Volunteer Brigade named after Joseph Stalin, the 6th Stalin Siberian Volunteer Rifle Corps of Operational Group of General Gerasimov of the Kalinin Front, a member of the Komsomol. He died at the age of 19, closing the embrasure of the German bunker with his chest, allowing the soldiers of his platoon to attack the stronghold. His feat was widely covered in Newspapers, magazines, literature, and movies and became a stable expression in Russian ("Matrosov's feat")._x000D_ According to the official version, Alexander Matrosov was born on February 5, 1924 in the city of Ekaterinoslav in the Ekaterinoslav province of the Ukrainian SSR (later - Dnepropetrovsk; now the city of Dnipro, the administrative center of the Dnepropetrovsk Region of Ukraine)._x000D_ According to another version, Matrosov's real name is Shakiryan Yunusovich Mukhamedyanov, and his birthplace is the village of Kunakbaevo in the Tamyan — Katai Canton of the Bashkir ASSR (now Uchalinsky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan). According to this version, he took the surname of Matrosov when he was a street child (when he run away from home after his father's new marriage) and registered under it when he was assigned to an orphanage. _x000D_ There is also a version that Alexander Matrosov was born in the village of Vysokiy Kolok in the Stavropol District of the Samara province (now the territory of the Novomalyklinsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region). Sasha's mother, left with three children without a husband, in 1935 gave him to the Melekess children's home to save him from starvation. From there, he was transferred to the Ivanovo children's home in the Mainsky District of the Ulyanovsk region._x000D_ The official response from the internal Affairs bodies of Ukraine indicates that in 1924, none of the Dnepropetrovsk registry Offices registered the birth of Alexander Matrosov._x000D_ Alexander Matrosov was convicted under article 162 of the criminal code of the RSFSR "Secret theft of other people's property (theft)". The teenager was taken to the regime colony in the village of Ivanovka in the Mainsky District of the Ulyanovsk Region on February 7, 1938. After finishing school in the Ivanovo orphanage, in 1939 Matrosov was sent to the city of Kuibyshev to work as a shaper at plant #9 (motor vehicle repair plant), but soon he escaped from there._x000D_ On October 8, 1940, the people's court of the 3rd District of the Frunzenskiy District of Saratov convicted Matrosov under part 2 of article 192 "a" of the criminal code of the RSFSR and sentenced him to two years in prison. He was found guilty of continuing to stay in the city despite being given a subscription to leave Saratov at 24 hours. Matrosov was sent to the Ufa children's labor colony #2 under the NKVD of the USSR, where he arrived on April 21, 1941. At the end of April 1941, a large group of juvenile inmates was discovered to prepare an escape (about 50 people, including Matrosov — but only the organizer was convicted). He worked as an apprentice locksmith until March 5, 1942. After the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the colony factory began producing defense products (special capping). On March 15, 1942, he was appointed assistant educator and elected Chairman of the Central conflict Commission of the colony._x000D_ On May 5, 1967, the Judicial Board of the Supreme court of the USSR overturned the verdict of October 8, 1940._x000D_ After the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Matrosov repeatedly made written requests to send him to the front. In September 1942, he was drafted by the Kirov District Military Commissariat of Ufa into the Workers'and Peasants' Red Army and began his training at the Krasnokholm Rifle School, stationed in the Chkalovskiy (now Orenburg) Region — from September 30, as a cadet of the 5th company. In November 1942, he joined the Komsomol. In December 1942, together with the cadets of the school, he was sent to the assembly point in the city of Astrakhan (or to the village of Kharabali in the Astrakhan Region) for training._x000D_ On January 18, 1943, from Platovka station in the Chkalov region, together with cadets of the school, as a volunteer in the marching company went to the Kalinin front. On February 12, 1943, Matrosov arrived at the unit, served in the 2nd Separate Rifle Battalion (according to other sources, in the 1st Company of the 3rd Battalion) of the 91st Separate Siberian Volunteer Brigade named after I. Stalin (later the 254th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 56th Guards Rifle Division, Kalinin Front), was elected a group commander and appointed a platoon agitator. On February 15, 1943, at 18:00, the 91st Brigade marched from Zemtsy station in the direction of Loknya. Since February 25, 1943 at the front._x000D_ On February 25, 1943, the 91st Brigade conducted offensive with two battalions of battles for the settlements of Chernoe and Brutovo. On February 26, 1943, the 91st Brigade, part of the forces of the 2nd Battalion, went to the area of the village of Pleten (Severnye), with the task to destroy the enemy defending the villages of Chernushki and Chernaya, and capture them by hitting its flank. The 4th Battalion was advancing on Chernushki from the front._x000D_ On February 27, 1943, Alexander Matrosov died heroically in a battle near the village of Chernushki in the Loknyanskiy District of the Kalinin Region (from October 2, 1957 — Pskov region)._x000D_ On February 27, 1943, the 2nd Battalion was ordered to attack a strongpoint near the village of Chernushki. As soon as the Soviet soldiers came to the forest and reached its edge, they came under heavy enemy fire — three machine guns in bunkers blocked the approaches to the village. Two-man assault teams were sent to suppress the firing points. One machine gun was suppressed by an assault group of submachine gunners and armor-breakers; the second bunker was destroyed by another group of armor-breakers, but the machine gun from the third bunker continued to fire through the entire valley in front of the village. Attempts to suppress it were unsuccessful. Then the Red Army soldiers Peter Ogurtsov (born 1920, Balakovo, Saratov Region) and Alexander Matrosov crawled towards the bunker. On the approaches to the bunker, Ogurtsov was seriously wounded, and Matrosov decided to complete the operation alone. He approached the embrasure from the flank and threw in two grenades. The machine gun fell silent. But as soon as the soldiers rose to the attack, fire from the bunker was opened again. Then Matrosov stood up and abruptly rushed to the bunker and his body covered embrasure. At the cost of his life, he contributed to the unit's combat mission._x000D_ Alexander Matrosov was buried there in the village, and in 1948 his ashes were reburied in the city of Velikiye Luki (from October 2, 1957 — Pskov region)._x000D_ First Lieutenant Peter Volkov (1906 - February 27, 1943), instructor of the Political Department of the 91st Separate Rifle Brigade, reported to the Political Department about the feat of Alexander Matrosov._x000D_ As a result of persistent fighting on February 27, 1943, parts of the 91st brigade occupied three localities: Chernushka Severnaya, Chernushka Yuzhnaya, Chernoye Severnoye and Vysota with the mark "85.4". Losses of the brigade for February 27, 1943: 1327 people, of them killed: command staff - 18, Junior command staff - 80, enlisted personnel - 313. By the end of the day on February 28, 1943, the offensive at Loknya was stopped. Loknya was libirated a year later on February 26, 1944._x000D_ By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on 19 June 1943 the Red Army soldier Alexander Matrosov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union "For exemplary performance of command assignments at the front against the Nazi invaders and displaying courage and heroism"._x000D_ In the order of the People's Commissariat of defense of the USSR #162 of September 8, 1943, it was written: "the Great feat of comrade Matrosov should serve as an example of military valor and heroism for all soldiers of the Red Army." By the same order, the name of Alexander Matrosov was assigned to the 254th Guards Rifle Regiment, and he was permanently enrolled in the lists of the 1st Company of this regiment._x000D_ Alexander Matrosov became the first Soviet soldier to be permanently enlisted in the military unit._x000D_ Rewards: Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) - awarded on June 19, 1943. Rank: Red Army Soldier. Branch of Service: Armored and Mechanized Troops._x000D_ Pavel Taranenko was my grandfather. He was born in the village of Lenin's Way of Nikolaevskiy District, the Volgograd Region. Graduated from 4 classes School and courses of tractor drivers, worked for a collective farm._x000D_ In the second half of the 1930th, he served in the Red Army, took an active part in the liberation of Western Belarusians and Ukrainians from the Polish landlords, and in 1940 he fought with the white Finns._x000D_ In 1941, while defending Moscow, he was wounded in both hands and was treated in a hospital. After that - again on the front line. In one of the battles, he was seriously wounded and captured, ad got in a POW camp located in Belarus, in the village of Fanipol. On November 6, 1943, he and his comrades escaped from the camp, taking a machine gun along the way. Then he was fighting for his Homeland in the partisan detachment named after the 25th Anniversary of the October revolution, showing himself to be a fearless and courageous fighter._x000D_ In the detachment, he was a machine gunner. More than once he went out with the partisans in ambushes, on sabotage, took part in battles. Not far from the location of the detachment was a road. The command decided to make an ambush to destroy an entire column of enemy vehicles. In this operation, the partisans destroyed 54 trucks, 2 armored cars and more than 200 fascist soldiers and officers. In the last battle, covering the retreat of the partisans and protecting the vital cargo for the detachment, he was left alone, fighting to the last cartridge. Pretending to give up, he let the Nazis get closer and detonated an anti-tank grenade, destroying more than 20 Germans and policemen. It was on May 4, 1944._x000D_ My grandfather was considered missing, and we only learned about his fate in 1971, thanks to the work of Belarusian pathfinders and his fellow soldier V. Morozov. There is a mass grave at the place where Pavel Taranenko died, in the village of Sloboda in the Uzden District of the Minsk Region. My grandfather's self-sacrifice saved the lives of 13 of his comrades. His feat was not awarded. The memory of him is in our hearts.

Date of birth: 11.10.1901_x000D_ Date of death: 27.12.1941_x000D_ History:_x000D_ Mikhail Malykh was born on October 11, 1901 in the village of Karinsky Perevoz, Slobodskiy District, Kirov Region._x000D_ He was drafted into the Red Army in September 1941 by the Slobodskiy District Military Commissariat, and was trained in the city of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region, until December 6, 1941._x000D_ He went to the front immediately after training in the Kalinin region of the Torzhok District (now Tver Region) as a Rifleman of the 1186th Regiment of the 355th Rifle Division. That fight was his first and last one._x000D_ In the twenties of December, the 355th Rifle Division arrived at the Kalinin front. By December 25, the division arrived by forced March through Torzhok and concentrated in the forest in the area of Ryabinikha. The village of Riabiniha was a heavily fortified region. The Germans fortified the settlement for 3 months and built 40 bunkers and 30 dugouts. In addition, the houses were adapted for long-term defense; the approaches were mined and covered by mortar fire._x000D_ At dawn on December 26, interacting with other parts of the army, the division took its first battle at the village of Ryabinikha in the Torzhovsky District. The breakthrough of this fortified region was extremely important. By the evening of December 27, 1941, the village of Ryabinikha was taken, all enemy bunkers were suppressed, the defense was broken, the enemy fled in panic, throwing machine guns and cannons. In total, up to 2 companies of enemy infantry were destroyed near the village, and trophies were captured: 35 machine guns, 40 submachine guns, 4 cannons, and a lot of ammunition._x000D_ At that time, there were severe frosts. Uniforms did not match the weather conditions._x000D_ Mikhail, judging by the injuries found during the excavation of his remains in a mass grave, most likely died on December 27, as a result of close combat with the enemy, when they reached the German trenches. After the battle, the bodies of the dead were simply carried to one place. They were not buried in the ground, as it was supposed to be._x000D_ Then there was a real meat grinder, and therefore information about the dead soldiers was very scarce. Therefore, Mikhail, as well as many soldiers from this regiment, was considered missing.
