Image: The brave and daring commander of the battery, Captain G.A. Tatarnikov, was seriously wounded in the battles for the liberation of Sevastopol. For courage and bravery shown in the battles for the Crimea, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

He was the first to cross the Kerch Strait with his battery and, with his skillful and courageous combat activities at the Kerch bridgehead, inflicted great damage on the enemy in equipment and manpower. On March 8, 44, in the battles near Kerch, he died a heroic death.
