Kalchenko Nikolay Karpovich

Nikolay Karpovich Kalchenko was born on 10.6.1925 in the village of Alexandrovka, Azov region, Rostov oblast, in a peasant family. Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1967. He graduated from 9th grade in 1942. Worked as a tractor driver at a collective farm. In the Red Army since March 1942. Graduated from the regiment school of the 10th build. regiment in Fergana (Uzbekistan), served as a commander of a machine gun. 1944. He took part in battles of the Great Patriotic War since March 1944. Scout of the 101st build. regiment (4th build. division, 69th Army, 1st Belorus. front), Jr. Sergeant K. at night on 17.9.44 as part of a group of soldiers crossed to the left bank of the Vistula river south of Warsaw (Poland), where the scouts were suddenly attacked and engaged in battle. Having received an order to retreat, being wounded himself, he carried a seriously wounded comrade. 24.10.44 Ord. Glory 3 egree. Sn.Comander of the branch of the foot reconnaissance platoon of the same regiment Jr. Sergeant K during the search on the left bank of the Vistula river in the district of Gurna (6 km north-west of Zakszów, Poland) 9.11.44 first sneaked into the trench and threw grenades at the enemy. Worked as an excavator driver at the construction of the Volgo-Don canal, then at the Department of Mechanization and Transportation of Rostagropromstroi. He is an Honored Builder of the RSFSR (1963). Order of Merit. Order of Lenin, October Revolution, Patriotic War 1 degree, medals, including "For Courage" and "Honored Builder of the RSFSR". Participant in the Parade on Red Square in Moscow on 9.5.1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
