Isaev Yakov Nikitovich

Yakov Nikitovich was drafted into the Red Army on 09/19/1939 by the Ukhtomsky RVK of the Moscow Region. On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War from 06/26/1941. Served with the rank of Guard Senior Sergeant in the 64th Guards Artillery Regiment of the 31st Guards Rifle Vitebsk Order of Lenin, Red Banner Order of Suvorov, Division of the 11th Guards Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front. Being the driver of the 2nd division of the regiment, reliably and in a timely manner, regardless of the enemy's fire effect, he ensured the transportation of artillery and the supply of ammunition to the regiment's field guns. He was awarded the medal "For Courage" for the fact that on July 16, 1944 he participated in the crossing of the Neman River by a vehicle with a gun and ammunition under heavy enemy artillery fire and aerial bombardment, successfully completed the assigned combat missions, which contributed to the rapid deployment of the battalion and the success in holding a springboard against the German invaders. The breakthroughs of the Red Army in 1944 were so rapid that individual units and formations penetrated deeply into the enemy's defenses, while their rear and communications were threatened by the retreating, but not yet defeated enemy. In such conditions, the work of supply columns of military units became especially dangerous, the paths of which could be cut by the infantry and motorized units of the Wehrmacht, which emerged from the "fog of war". Such an incident occurred in the autumn battles of 1944 in East Prussia with the guard senior sergeant Ya.N. Isaev. While on a voyage with ammunition, the vehicles were attacked by a group of eight German infantrymen. An experienced guard senior sergeant vigorously took the battle and personally destroyed two infantrymen with fire from a carbine, and then crushed two more with a car. On that day, the ammunition arrived safely and on time at the firing position of the artillery battery. For the shown steadfastness, courage, personal courage and valor, Ya.N. Isaev 18.11.1944 was awarded the Order of the Red Star. The famous guards division, in which Yakov Nikitovich served, completed its combat path in East Prussia, seizing Konigsberg and Pillau (now Kaliningrad and Baltiysk, Russia) by storm, where it met the day on May 9, 1945.
