Kosteev Peter Illarionovich

Kosteev Peter Illarionovich was born on 12.07.1918 in Staro-Tyaberdino village of Tatar ASSR. In 1930 together with his dispossessed parents he was sent to Magnitogorsk city of Chelyabinsk region. From there he was drafted into the ranks of the CA on 04.06.1941. In the active army since 22.06.1941. He fought at the North-Western (from 2.1942), 2nd Baltic (from 11.1943) and Leningrad (from 6.1944) fronts. He was slightly wounded three times. He was twice awarded the breastplate "Excellent Engineer". From February 1942 he was a sapper in 223rd minzhba. Lance corporal. He was a member of the Komsomol. While providing combat operations 370 Sd (8.1943) under machine-gun and mortar fire, he participated in the concentration of transfer vehicles. When the instructor of the company was wounded, he began to carry out his duties: he provided medical assistance and takin the wounded from the battlefield. The battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel K.V. Sokolov, was presented (21.8.1943) and was awarded the Medal "For Courage" ( № 43 of 6.9.1943, 370cd of the North-Western Front). While conducting engineering reconnaissance of the enemy's front edge for the presence of mine fences, a group of sappers was found by the enemy sentry, who raised the alarm and opened automatic fire. He gave the command to the group to retreat, hiding behind the fire from the assault rifles, he and the Lance Corporal V.A. Soldatov secretly crawled aside and continued the task. The battalion commander, Major I.I. Pyshchev, awarded him (7.2.1944) the medal "For Courage" and was awarded the Order of Glory, 3rd Article (Prospect № 43 of 17.2.1944, 22A). Reconnaissance engineer 223 minzhba. To prevent the forcing of the Great River by breaking the ice in the 33cd band, the enemy set up blasts (16.3.1944), which were detected by Kosteyev's group at night (17.31944). The enemy, finding the loss, the next night set 30 blasts, which were also sent to their shore by the sappers. The ice was saved before it was forced. Vrio battalion commander Major A.D. Samoylyuk awarded him (28.3.1944) the Order of Glory of the 2nd century, also he was awarded the medal "For Merit in Combat" (Prospect № 70 of 5.4.1944 22A). Reconnaissance engineer of 17 separate motorized reconnaissance company 17 shisbr. While conducting reconnaissance by combat (9.6.1944) he fulfilled the task of drawing up a scheme of the enemy defense behind the second trench. Under the fire of the enemy, running through the trenches, he put fire points and fences on the scheme of the trench. The company commander, Senior Lieutenant I.M. Dryakhlushin was awarded (10.6.1944) the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree and was awarded the Order of the Red Banner (Ave. № 95/n dated 2.7.1944, 21A). 1944 – he was sent to the Leningrad A.A. Zhdanov Institute of Oriental Studies in Kostroma. Cadet of 8th company. Sergeant 22.5.1945 – he graduated from the Zhdanov Leningrad A.A. Zhdanov Institute of Oriental Studies. Junior lieutenant. After the end of WWII, he served in the Kaliningrad region of the Lithuanian SSR. He worked in the Sverdlovsk region of the town of Talitsa in administrative positions. He lived from 1969 to 1984 in the village of Preobrazhenskoye, Krasnogvardeisky district, Krasnodar region. In recent years he lived in Talitsa. There he died and was buried in 1986. His children are Mikhail and Vitaly.
